CAE promoted the 2nd edition of the Luanda Oil and Gas Conference and Expo

In order to promote the potential of the Angolan companies, CAE – Centro de Apoio Empresarial, held on 22 and 23 of October at Talatona Convention Centre  the Forum “Luanda Oil and Gas Conference and Expo 2015”

During the opening ceremony, the Minister of Petroleum, Botelho de Vasconcelos, referring to the slogan “Challenges, Opportunities, Partnerships and Innovations”, stated that the program aims to reduce imports of goods and services, and ensuring the diversification of the national economy.

The PND foresee a set of measures which promotes and identifies the potential of the foreign investors to contribute inempowering the national entrepreneurs as well as encouraging the personnel training in the fields such as geosciencesand others where the country needs.

According to the Minister, the local production is a wealth creation tool and work, able to promote competitiveness andreduce the costs of the projects and the external dependence.

The Minister Botelho de Vasconcelos appealed to the Oil and Gas Industry and Angolan companies to collaborate with the government in the economic diversification process through the promotion of the local content and consuming goods and services made in Angola.

“The strategy of developing the local content in the Oil and Gas sector aims, on one hand, the reduction of imports of goods and services and ensuring the diversification of the economy, and on the other, the identification of weaknessesand risks associated with the policy of promoting the local content in sustainable way” Said the Minister

The Petroleum Minister also revealed that, the oil sector is working on a survey of goods and services produced locallyin different sectors to support the development of the Angolan companies with emphasis on agricultural products and fisheries

The event was also attended by the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Ângela Bragança, the Sonangol Executive Director, Eng. Fernando Roberto, as well as more than 300 angolan entrepreneurs, UK business delegations, USA,Brazil and Singapore, representatives of the Oil and Gas Industries, Total, Chevron, Statoil, Exxon, Repsol, ENI,commercial representations of US Embassies, England, Brazil and Norway and 50 exhibitors.

During the event, was discussed 7 topics, such as: ” The contribution of the Oil and Gas sector in the diversification of the Angolan economy “, “Local Content in the Oil Sector: Strategies and Guidelines”

“Policies, Strategies and Investment Opportunities in Angola “,” Creating “Strategic Partnerships as a crucial factor for your business success” and “Taxing in the Oil and Gas industry”.

At the end, three Angolan companies were awarded: The law firm LCF, received the award for the best project of social responsibility. Alcea, was awarded with the Entrepreneurship Prize and the Operatec as Company of the Year.
